Where to report copies and counterfeits on each marketplace
By Alex Wrexford, author of The Takedown. Updated 4 November 2026.
Every big marketplace has its own official route for reporting a listing that copies your product or uses your photos. Use that route, not a support chat or a general contact form. Below is each one, with the date we last opened the link ourselves.
Where do I report a copy on each platform?
| Platform | Where to report | Covers | Checked |
|---|---|---|---|
| Etsy | Etsy intellectual property reporting form Etsy's own form for copyright and trademark reports. | etsy.com | November 4, 2026 |
| Alibaba.com | Alibaba Group Intellectual Property Protection (IPP) platform One portal for every Alibaba Group marketplace, including AliExpress, Taobao and 1688. | alibaba.com, aliexpress.com, taobao.com, tmall.com, 1688.com | November 4, 2026 |
| AliExpress | Alibaba Group IPP platform (covers AliExpress) Filed through the same Alibaba Group IPP portal. | aliexpress.com | November 4, 2026 |
| Temu | Temu intellectual property protection page Temu's IP protection page, which links to its reporting process. | temu.com | November 4, 2026 |
| eBay | eBay Verified Rights Owner (VeRO) program eBay's VeRO page links to the VeRO Portal and its Notice of Claimed Infringement form, the routes eBay recommends for rights owners. | ebay.com, ebay.co.uk, ebay.de | November 4, 2026 |
| Amazon | Amazon Report Infringement form Amazon's infringement form. It asks you to sign in to an Amazon account first. | amazon.com, amazon.co.uk, amazon.de | November 4, 2026 |
| Shopify stores | Shopify DMCA report form For copies sold from an independent store that runs on Shopify. Shopify is the host. | Stores hosted on Shopify | November 4, 2026 |
What about independent websites?
Report the page to the company that hosts the site. A lookup tool such as a WHOIS or hosting checker will usually name it, and most hosts have an abuse or copyright form. If the site runs on Shopify, use Shopify's DMCA form.
One rule we never break: don't send it to the domain registrar or the DNS provider. They can't remove one page. They can only suspend the whole domain, and if you've got the wrong site, that's an innocent business switched off.
Which routes haven't we confirmed yet?
We only publish a link after opening it ourselves. These platforms block automated checks, so we're confirming them by hand before we list them:
- DHgate
- Walmart Marketplace
- TikTok Shop
Copyright or trademark: which box do I tick?
If they used your photos or text, it's copyright, and you can report it without registering anything. If they're selling a fake under your brand name or logo, it's trademark, and you'll usually need your registration number. Our guide to writing a DMCA notice covers the copyright side in full.
Questions people ask
Where do I report a copy on Amazon?
Through Amazon's Report Infringement form at amazon.com/report/infringement. When we checked it on 4 November 2026, it asked us to sign in to an Amazon account first.
How do I report a copy on AliExpress?
Through the Alibaba Group Intellectual Property Protection (IPP) platform at ipp.alibabagroup.com. It covers AliExpress, Alibaba.com, Taobao, Tmall and 1688.
The copy is on its own website. Who do I report it to?
The web host. Look up who hosts the site and use their abuse or copyright form. If it's a Shopify store, use Shopify's DMCA form. Don't report to the domain registrar, which can only suspend the whole domain.
Should I report it myself or use a service?
For a few listings, report them yourself with the links on this page. If you're finding copies every week across several marketplaces, a service saves you the searching and keeps the evidence and follow-up in one place.
